100% Cotton Broderie Anglaise - Cirque
It is great to find a soft Broderie Anglaise that isn’t floral. This is a more contemporary take on a traditional fabrication. The circles, both across the soft cloth, and featured on BOTH borders, make this a wonderful option for shirts, blouses and tops, and fuller dresses and skirts. The fabric falls in folds away from the body, and it’s quite light so it can take a lot of gathering. The embroidered borders have more body and will sit quite straight for you. The borders would be a gorgeous feature for yokes, cuffs, hems and necklines. I am thinking of a wonderful Friday Pattern Company Wilder top and using the border around the neck. Oh my! It would be great for more voluminous sleeves, but would also be lovely in a classic shirt style (with ease) with a collar and cuffs. This is an excellent quality designer end / dead stock fabric. It is transparent, but flesh underwear should put things right for blouses. You will need some kind of slip for skirts.
132cm wide. See other details in last image.
For your cloth edit consider: looser shirts, blouses, tops and tunics; dresses (eg. kaftan, tunic, loose shirt dresses and wrap dresses with some fullness), skirts (eg. wrap, midi and maxi, gathered, pleated).
We stock so many beautiful indie patterns that would be a perfect match with this cotton. Here are some suggestions:
Cloth Care:
Cotton is an easy care fibre as it is strong when wet, and so it can be machine washed. Nevertheless, this is a finer fabric, so take come care. Use a mesh garment bag, use a gentle setting, shake out when wet and place on a hanger to dry (or dry flat). Cotton can take a hot iron but start on a cooler setting, spot test, and iron on the wrong side. Use a pressing cloth to prevent over ironing ‘shine’.
