100% Cotton – Victoriana
What a find this ex-designer fabric is! Victoriana is perfect for shirts, blouses and tops. It’s not a bright white, but more ivory. It is great option for all year round projects; perfect for ethereal dresses, as well as oversized shirts, and would be great for gathers and pleats. I had the Coeli blouse by Pauline Alice in mind when I ordered this, but it suits so many of the indie patterns in the Cloth Edit range (see below). It’s very special. The unique linear embroidery design really elevates this beautiful cotton. The nature of the fabric means you may need a slip for skirts. You should be fine with flesh toned underwear for tops.
139cm Wide. See last image for more details
For your cloth edit consider: loose – semi-fitted shirts, blouses, tops and tunics; dresses (eg. kaftan, tunic, oversized shirt dresses and wrap dresses with some fullness), skirts (eg. wrap, midi and maxi, gathered, pleated).
We stock so many beautiful indie patterns that would be a perfect match with this cotton. Here are some suggestions:
Cotton is an easy care fibre as it is strong when wet, and so it can be machine washed. Nevertheless, this is a special fabric, so take come care. Use a mesh garment bag, use a gentle setting, shake out when wet and place on a hanger to dry (or dry flat). Cotton can take a hot iron but start on a cooler setting, spot test, and iron on the wrong side. Use a pressing cloth to prevent over ironing ‘shine’.
