100% Linen – Dover Plaid
This slightly larger scale plaid, with its muted grey/blue, and integration of gold/brown and black, makes it the type of versatile fabric Cloth Edit seeks out. Perfect for work or play, as a jacket to wear with jeans, or as a smart pair of pants or skirt, this is a great mid-weight and designed for transitioning into cooler months. It is lovely alongside the earthy Takumi, and some favourite pattern clashing combinations are with the Black Dot cotton, the pale Pink Silk/Cotton, the Late Blooms viscose, The Glen check, and the Paloma X silk. Don’t discount the stunning Japanese Bloom jacquards. The plaid can fly solo though, and would be stunning as a dress or whole suit. An added bonus is that the weave seems to ensure the creases don’t take hold as much. It's also nice and wide.
For your cloth edit consider: boxy tops, tunics, dresses (eg. wrap, fit and flare, trapeze, tunic, shift, sheath, shirt dresses), loose to semi-fitted pants/trousers/shorts jumpsuits and overalls, jackets, skirts (eg. A Line, pencil, wrap, midi, pleated).

Linen is a natural fibre and as such cannot be ‘uniform’ in the way man-made fibres can. What used to be considered ‘irregularities’ in the cloth (such as slubs or irregular lumps and bumps), are now universally embraced as part of the aesthetic appeal of this cloth.
We recommend a gentle machine wash or hand washing. It is important not to wring the fabric or garment, so if you are handwashing, roll up in a towel to press out excess water. Do not tumble dry. It is preferable to wash inside out. Wash colours separately. Shake out the wet garment and dry flat (or on a hanger) in the shade. Use a warm/hot iron and spot test. You may need a water spray bottle to get rid of the wrinkles when you are ironing. Linen softens upon wearing and laundering.
