100% Linen - The Glen
This Fabric is sold in units of 50cm (= .5m; ½ m). For example, if you would like 2.5m, then enter the quantity ‘5’. As Cloth Edit only receives limited quantities of each fabric, err on the side of caution when ordering. Take into account any additional length etc.
Every effort has been made to present the fabric as accurately as possible. If the precise colour, weight and feel of the fabric is important for your decision, and the photos aren’t giving you enough detail, the best option to eliminate disappointment is to use the Swatch Service. Each Swatch is .50c. See under the 'About' tab for more details.
100% Linen – The Glen
Small check plaids are a favourite for cooler weather, but we have sought out the design in a versatile linen. It is a fantastic mid-weight which is what we are after in transition pieces. This has a small blue stripe as its highlight colour, but the ivory and black make a strong foundation for coordinating separates or hero pieces. We are very interested in inspired print combinations at Cloth Edit, and this small scale print is a quieter check to sit alongside the Dover Paid. It’s wonderful with the Black Spot cotton, Lucia’s Garland silk, Late Blooms viscose, and looks fantastic with the Nina Taylor Liberty Tana Lawn. I hope you enjoy some experimentation, but if you prefer to focus on basics, you couldn’t go wrong with smart semi-fitted or loose jackets, skirts and pants to work with your white, black and coloured tops. The weave seems to ensure the creases don’t take hold as much. Enjoy playing with this one!
For your cloth edit consider: boxy tops, tunics, dresses (eg. wrap, fit and flare, trapeze, tunic, shift, sheath, shirt dresses), loose to semi-fitted pants/trousers/shorts jumpsuits and overalls, jackets and lighter weight coats, skirts (eg. A Line, pencil, wrap, midi, pleated).

Linen is a natural fibre and as such cannot be ‘uniform’ in the way man-made fibres can. What used to be considered ‘irregularities’ in the cloth (such as slubs or irregular lumps and bumps), are now universally embraced as part of the aesthetic appeal of this cloth.

Cloth Care:
We recommend a gentle machine wash or hand washing. It is important not to wring the fabric or garment, so if you are handwashing, roll up in a towel to press out excess water. Do not tumble dry. It is preferable to wash inside out. Wash colours separately. Shake out the wet garment and dry flat (or on a hanger) in the shade. Use a warm/hot iron and spot test. You may need a water spray bottle to get rid of the wrinkles when you are ironing. Linen softens upon wearing and laundering.
