This Fabric is sold in units of 50cm (= .5m; ½ m). For example, if you would like 2.5m, then enter the quantity ‘5’. As Cloth Edit only receives limited quantities of each fabric, err on the side of caution when ordering. Take into account any additional length etc.

Every effort has been made to present the fabric as accurately as possible. If the precise colour, weight and feel of the fabric is important for your decision, and the photos aren’t giving you enough detail, the best option to eliminate disappointment is to use the Swatch Service. Each Swatch is .50c. See under the 'About' tab for more details.

This is one of the Four Japanese Wool Blends from the Cloth Edit 2021 Autumn/Winter Collection.  This Jaunty Plaid was hand selected with the Pauline Alice Patterns’ ‘Serra’ Trench and Jacket in mind.  It is a fantastic pattern, but this mid weight, drapey wool blend it going to work well with any trench, jacket, blazer, or classic trousers pattern.  The little pop of purple amid the brown tones brings a freshness to the design, and is perfect for your weekend jaunts, or throwing on as you go out the door for work or for a walk.  It has a smooth finish, is crease resistant and is effortlessly chic. This is a designer – dead stock fabric, so once it is gone, it is gone.

For your cloth edit consider: trench coats, jackets, blazers, pants/trousers, sheath and shift dresses, straight or A Line skirts, and a great winter shirt (an elevated winter flannel shirt). It would also make great statement sleeve blouse, worn with a matching skirt.

Here are some indie sewing pattern suggestions:

  • Friday Pattern Company – Heather Blazer
  • I AM Patterns –  Lucienne, Jacques, Merlin Coat – with interlining, Panoramix Pants, Romeo, Irma.
  • Closet Core Patterns – Sienna Maker, Jasika, Pietra Pants, Blanca, Fiore
  • Nina Lee – Richmond Blazer, Portobello
  • Papercut Patterns – Stacker, Sapporo (Nova Coat/Jacket), Juno (Wool isn’t listed as a rec. fabric, but I think it would be lovely), Guise, Nagoya, Tula, Aura.
  • Pattern Fantastique – Falda (although it might need block interfacing or interlining to give the sleeves volume)
  • Pauline Alice Patterns – Ayora Jacket (wool isn’t on the list of rec. fabric but I think this is such a simple shape, it would work well. Line with cotton), Serra, Calvari Dress..

Cloth Care:

Wool cannot be washed in a machine.  Dry Clean only.  Spot test for iron temp, and use the cool/warm/wool iron setting.  Steam when pressing.  It is advisable to use a pressing cloth, and buffer your dart pressing with scraps of the cloth so the dart lines don’t show on the right side.   Keep garments clean by brushing off surface dust and dirt.  Do not spot clean.
