90% Linen 10% Silk – Impressions ~ 'Lakeside'
Please note - This is a unique fabric and it is challenging to cut samples given the design. You would only get a small piece of the design ;-). As such a Swatch will be a narrow but longer piece of fabric to give you a better idea of the colours and design. The cost will be $2.00 per swatch. See under the 'About' tab for more details.
The repeat/panel is approx. approx. 78cm

Impressions 'Lakeside' and 'Golden Hour', the latest additions to the Cloth Edit Linen | Silk Collection, are stunning border prints. One side (the top) of the 'Lakeside' print features dappled blues and greens reminiscent of the Impressionists, with soft moments of soft dusky greys, which have hints of pink and mauve. As your eye moves to the lower border (bottom), the muted dappling gives way to bright, generous blooms of elegant white, yellows, and pinks. The foliage includes greys and fresh green. Of course, this could be an elegant special occasion dress, but it’s also very wearable, and perfect for your ‘go to’ dress this summer. The appearance of tans and white make it a perfect match for your favourite summer sandals, or white sneakers. This beguiling fabric deserves many outings. We suggest at least 3-4 panels to give you pattern placement options. For full skirts you may need more.
The brighter and more distinct flowers stretch up the fabric to the 74cm mark. As such, the remaining 66cm from the 'top' features the more Impressionistic portions. Cut your dress according to the fabric gradient (i.e the more Impressionistic section at the top/bodice), or capture the bold blooms in the bodice or the sleeves. The Homer and Howells’ Ingrid dress, with its bodice tucks, would enable fantastic effects with the print. (See more pattern suggestions below). The last images are 4:3 and indicate the full width of the fabric.
The Linen | Silk blend is a superb fabric. It creases a little, but not as much as a 100% linen. It is 140cm wide, is lighter weight than regular linens, and so soft and cool against the skin. The drape is amazing. It’s washable by hand or (at own risk) on a very delicate, cool, machine wash cycle (in a mesh washing bag). See Cloth Care notes below.
For your cloth edit consider: semi-fitted or looser V096shirts, blouses, tops and tunics; dresses (eg. wrap, fit and flare, tunic, shirt dresses), skirts (eg. wrap, midi, gathered, pleated). It would be great in pants or shorts also.

The general advice is to Dry Clean silk, BUT this is only 10% Silk and so you could certainly hand wash this fabric. If you machine wash, then use a delicate cycle, and use a gentle detergent such as a baby shampoo or specialist silk detergent as the chemicals and bleach in regular washing liquids and powders may damage the silk. Use a mesh washing bag. For hand-washing and machine washing use cool water. Hot water is harmful to the silk fibre. Do not bleach, wring, or tumble dry. Do not spot clean silk. Wash colours separately. Wash inside out and dry flat or on a soft finish hanger in shade. Use a warm iron and spot test.
