Club Cloth Edit - The 'House of D' Box

  • Fabrics are Exclusive to Cloth Edit
  • 4 Prints available
  • 2m and 3m options for each print
  • Each print has a different Sewing Related Gift.  A number of customers purchase multiple boxes, so this ensures you don't double up on the gifts :-)
  • All boxes include a Kylie and the Machine sewing label
  • Boxes include an 8-page glossy brochure about the 'House of D' offering.
  • Each customer will receive special Discount Codes for Cloth Edit, and two Indie Pattern companies.

If you would like your fabric to be a complete surprise, skip past the 'The Prints ~ General Descriptions' below.

At times new Club customers ask if they will 'see' images of the prints on launch day. Club Cloth Edit is a mystery box event, and so the images of the fabrics are not provided. I have included general descriptions below so that you get an idea of the different prints.  The idea behind it is to provide exclusive, inspiring prints that are curated around a design House.  It is a sewist's special treat :-)

The Inspiration

The fourth Club Cloth Edit offering is inspired by the Italian fashion House that has the initials D & G.  For this Club Cloth Edit I've sourced 4 prints that play with the D & G style (motifs, colours and designs).  They are not copies of prints, but they have the 'vibe' of this ever unique and indomitable House.  I have a Pinterest Board full of inspiration from this fashion label.  This might be of interest when you read the general descriptions below, or if you just want to get a general sense of the prints that will be on offer.

The Cloth

  • 140cm wide
  • Fine weave, quality 100% Ramie
  • Approx. 175gsm

About Ramie

  • This high-quality Rami is indistinguishable from quality, flax fibre Linen. It has a fine, close, even weave.  This isn't a 'slubby' cloth.
  • The fibres come from the Ramie plant, and the fabric has been woven for thousands of years, especially in China, India, Korea and Indonesia.
  • It’s durable yet light and resistant to bacteria and ultraviolent light and dries quickly.
  • Ramie is sort after by designers for its ‘eco’ credentials.  It is sustainably grown, the extraction process of the fibres doesn’t include a lot of chemicals, and the cloth is strong and stable.
  • This cloth washes and irons beautifully.  I’ve washed at 30 degrees, dried in the tumble dryer (for my test purposes), and then ironed.  There is no shrinkage, the colour fastness is great, and the ironing is easy (i.e the creases aren't resistant).  I have also line-dried the fabric and ironing after this is a breeze.
  • This cloth might be a touch semi-transparent with light behind it, but I've made two dresses in the Club fabrics and I haven't lined the skirts of either one.  It just didn't warrant it.  Images of these dresses are in the brochure, in the Club boxes.
  • This cloth is perfect for dresses, blouses, shirts, co-ords, shorts and loose pants.  Use this Rami as you would use a lighter Linen.

The Prints ~ General Descriptions

'Mosaic'

White Background; Multicolour print (Blue, Yellow, Aqua, Lavender, Orange, Red, and a variety of Greens)

The overall look is 'Lux Resort'.  Design elements include small motifs and some recurring, small-scale patterns, all placed close together.

'Sea Spectacle'

Red background with some shading; Multicolour print (colours a bit muted - aqua, green, pink, orange, grey|blue, black, off white).  The red background seems to sit in the middle of colour charts (not too blue and not too orange).

The overall look is 'Resort Maximalism' for one-of-a-kind co-ords and dresses for weekends and holidays.  It looks great with denim.  The abstract motifs are small with lots of the red background on show.

'Carnival'

Black Background (lots showing); Multicolour print (powder blue, mid-pink, soft yellow, purple, orange, white)

The overall look is 'Runway Maximalism'.  This is for showstopping garments for special lunches and garden weddings.  It features medium to larger floral collages with other design elements.  Motifs also include female figures (in a very fresh and D & G inspired way).  Spoiler: I've made one of my dresses in this print ;-).

'Lace Espalier'

White Background; black print design overlays the white; other colours are cognac and blush pink.

The overall look is 'Romantic Statement'.  Would look the part at special lunches and garden weddings.   The coloured motifs are smallish.

The Presentation

This Club Cloth Edit offering comes in a quality black matt box with a magnetic closure, which should come in handy for storing your bits and bobs in your sewing space.  It’s perfect for your current project, sewing tools, or for your tracing supplies.  The ribbon is a great quality pink and white striped grosgrain, perfect for an embellishment or for gift wrapping.

I hope you enjoy the 'House of D' offering.
