Have you ever wanted to try Sashiko? Sashiko is a Japanese embroidery that has very practical underpinnings. Sashiko was a way to artfully mend cotton working garments. It was also a means to patch together portions of garments that still had wear, into a new garment. The actual stitching is a simple running stitch, but this was often developed into beautiful designs.
The Folkwear Patterns’ ‘Japanese Kimono’ includes a pattern for the Sashiko embellishment (see the pattern images), and the Cloth Edit Organic Hemp | Cotton blend is the PERFECT canvas to start exploring Sashiko.
