The Lizz Dress printed pattern is available in two size ranges. This pattern is sized UK/Aust 16-38 (US Sizes 12-34).
*There was a printing error with this pattern (the back bodice pieces were printed twice and the front bodice pieces were missing). By Hand London has printed A0 copies of the bodices to include with the pattern. Please note the printed AO sheet is copy paper, while the pattern is printed on tissue paper. As such the AO sheet will not be put into the same envelope, but I'll send them with the pattern.
An important note about Cup Sizing
Dressmaker's cup sizes have absolutely nothing in common with bra sizes! Dressmaker's cup sizes relate to the ratio between your high bust and full bust measurements, whereas your bra size relates to the ratio between your full bust and under bust measurements. A dressmaker's B cup indicates that the full bust that is 2" larger than the high bust, while a dressmaker's D cup indicates that the full bust that is 4" larger than the high bust.
About the Lizz Dress
The Lizz Dress may be one pattern, but it includes two very different dresses. The pattern is also infinitely hackable. At her core, Lizz is a basic darted bodice with generous ease, a high waist, simple sleeves and the perfect scoop neckline. Throw in a fabulously full circle skirt with an inverted V waist, a multi-tier gathered skirt, a neckline ruffle AND a waistline flounce, and you’ve got all your favourite future dresses in one handy pattern!
The Fabric
For your Lizz Dress, lightweight wovens are the way to go, but the substrate-weave combination you choose will give you dramatically different effects. For drape and swishing opt for viscose challis, crepe, silk twill, tencel etc. For a softer dress go for naturals like enzyme washed linen and brushed cotton. Or crank it up a notch and try things like sheer organza and velvet!
