‘Viva Mexico’! This striking take on a botanical print is a surprise new version of the 'Viva Mexico' Club Cloth Edit print from the December offering. I jumped at the chance to secure this second exclusive colourway. Mexico traverses several climate regions - from the Coastal, Tropical, Temperate and Arid to the Alpine - and this print is an ode to the diverse flora and fauna of Mexico.
This version has a deep cobalt background, and the colour palette is warmer and muted. You’ll see an array of browns, reds, seaweed greens, muted yellows and oranges, and variegations of pale ochre. There are even tiny moments of pale pink. The shells, seaweed, cacti and array of blooms are still there (as per the original colourway), but it looks like another world.
I hope you enjoy this gorgeous addition to the Linen Silk Collection. It's going to be perfect for all seasons. I'm thinking dresses (of course), shirts, blouses, skirts and loose pants. It would also be an amazing robe. I have a piece to make up, and it's going to look great with my go-to gem-stone sandals (or tan slides) and a tan bag. I'm also very tempted to make a statement skirt, and team it with a white shirt and cropped jumper (or denim jacket) in autumn | winter.
Why Linen Silk?
This stunning cloth combines all the wonderful features of both linen and silk fibres: excellent breathability; beautiful drape; and cool and smooth against the skin. The amalgam looks and feels more luxurious than linen and opens opportunities for making garments for special events. Don’t keep it just for best though 😉. This is wonderful for wearing every day.
Enjoy using Cloth Edit’s Linen Silk for floaty dresses, blouses, skirts, and wide leg trousers. Really, it’s perfect for all manner of dresses, tops, bottoms and loungewear. It drapes in soft folds on and away from the body. If lined, more fitted silhouettes are on the table.
The cloth is also great for layering in cooler months as it’s smooth and doesn’t have a lot of ‘friction’ like a range of cottons and linens. The cloth has very good colourfastness and it’s easy to iron.
Cloth Care
- It’s washable by hand but I always use a delicate, cool, machine wash cycle (my tip - don’t overload the detergent and softeners)
- Medium Iron (spot test)
- Steam ironing is perfect
- Don’t use a dryer. It is a garment destroyer and will shorten the life of your garment. It is a quick drying cloth, so just hang your garment on a hanger to dry.
