Venice is the Floating City, and the canals offer some respite from the narrow, bustling streets. This beautiful, vibrant linen print depicts a city at rest, with moored gondolas and quiet bridges. One can imagine residents of the bright houses enjoying a long lunch, before heading out once more into the throng of busy Venetian life.
The exquisite design is a combination of photography and watercolour. The artist highlights the magical nature of the canal, replicating the way the buildings are mirrored in the water. The design runs along the grain, and there are just under 3 repeats from selvage to selvage, and then the repeat along the grain is about 39cm. The fabric is sold in half metre quantities as usual.

Washing Instructions:
We recommend a gentle machine wash or hand washing linen. It is important not to wring the fabric or garment, so if you are handwashing, roll up in a towel to press out excess water. To ensure the long life of a garment, don’t tumble dry as this breaks down the fibres. If you do tumble dry the cloth, then do so on a cooler setting. It is preferable to wash inside out. Wash colours separately. Shake out the wet garment and dry flat (or on a hanger) in the shade. Use a warm/hot iron and spot test.
