I AM Patterns - Flora
About Flora
I AM Patterns’ Flora is a chic blouse with a geometric yoke which highlights an otherwise discreet low-neckline. It has a straight fit and long sleeves and is both feminine and modern. It’s ideal for an important meeting at the office, for a night out, or relaxing at the weekend.
In an effort to reduce paper usage some pattern pieces overlap with each other, so you will need to trace the pattern on paper or use Cloth Edit’s Vilene Light. It is fantastic for tracing patterns, and you can even sew it, which makes it great for fitting. (Note - the overlapping is neither extensive nor hard to discern).
The packaging for I AM Patterns is beautiful but tricky to get into without ripping the lovely gold card that backs the pattern. Our suggestion is to jiggle the pattern down as far as it goes, and neatly cut off the top of the pattern. You will need to snip off approximately 1.75cm, but take care to steer clear of the pattern itself.
The Fabric
For your Flora Blouse, select any lightweight and medium weight fabrics, such as: crêpe, chambray, poplin, cotton twill, cotton flannel, viscose, or thin denim.
- Garment: 1 1⁄2 yard by 55’’
- Yoke: 8’’ by 24’’
- Note: when using a fabric with a pattern, you will have to rotate the grain line of the yoke 90° and plan for 24’’ by 8’’ wide fabric.
The Notions
Iron-on interfacing: 16’’ by 32’’ (40 cm by 80 cm)
