The gorgeous 'Hayman' print might be familiar to some of you :-). In 2021 Cloth Edit managed to get its hands on small amounts of five colourways of this design, and this pink colourway was a favourite with customers. It's named after the beautiful Hayman Island in the Whitsundays on the Great Barrier Reef, QLD. The name denotes lux resort wear, but this beauty can be worn anywhere. Linen Silk is a favourite for special events, but it's truly a fabric for everyday garments too. This is a larger scale, abstract botanical, floral design with a combination of pinks: Magenta (close to Pantone Viva Magenta) and Fuchsia (a hot pink). The colours overlap in moments which creates variegation. You will also see delightful moments of sage green and silvery grey, pale pink and coral red. The white ensures the design is kept light.
This wonderful design also comes in a brand-new and equally stunning colourway - Burleigh - which features cobalt and purple.
Why Linen Silk?
This stunning cloth combines all the wonderful features of both linen and silk fibres: excellent breathability; beautiful drape; and cool and smooth against the skin. The amalgam looks and feels more luxurious than linen and opens opportunities for making garments for special events. Don’t keep it just for best though 😉. This is wonderful for wearing every day.
Enjoy using Cloth Edit’s Linen Silk for floaty dresses, blouses, skirts, and wide leg trousers. Really, it’s perfect for all manner of dresses, tops, bottoms and loungewear. It drapes in soft folds on and away from the body. If lined, more fitted silhouettes are on the table.
The cloth is also great for layering in cooler months as it’s smooth and doesn’t have a lot of ‘friction’ like a range of cottons and linens. The cloth has very good colourfastness and it’s easy to iron.
Cloth Care
- It’s washable by hand but I always use a delicate, cool, machine wash cycle (my tip - don’t overload the detergent and softeners)
- Medium Iron (spot test)
- Steam ironing is perfect
- Don’t use a dryer. It is a garment destroyer and will shorten the life of your garment. It is a quick drying cloth, so just hang your garment on a hanger to dry.
