I AM Patterns - Diana
I AM Patterns’ Diana is a playsuit or a pleated dress, with short sleeves or sleeveless variations. Each version features a shawl collar and a double-breasted closure that finishes at the upper hips. The narrow bodice panels lengthens the silhouette. The playsuit version has in-seam pockets. The dress version has a pleated skirt that starts from the upper hips. It is a versatile dress, and depending on the fabrics used, it can be worn on relaxed outings or dressed up for parties.
- Version A: Sleeveless playsuit
- Version B: Short sleeve playsuit
- Version C: Sleeveless pleated dress
- Version D: Short sleeve pleated dress
In an effort to reduce paper usage some pattern pieces overlap with each other, so you will need to trace the pattern on paper or use Cloth Edit’s Vilene Light. It is fantastic for tracing patterns, and you can even sew it, which makes it great for fitting. (Note - the overlapping is neither extensive nor hard to discern).
The packaging for I AM Patterns is beautiful but tricky to get into without ripping the lovely gold card that backs the pattern. Our suggestion is to jiggle the pattern down as far as it goes, and neatly cut off the top of the pattern. You will need to snip off approximately 1.75cm, but take care to steer clear of the pattern itself.
For views A, B and bust of C & D, select fabric that has a good drape and is not too thick, such as: crepe, Tencel, linen, chambray, cotton or viscose twill, double gauze, or lightweight denim.
For the Skirt of C & D, select a pleated fabric.
- Interfacing: 32’’ x 38’’ (80 x 95 cm)
- 6 buttons of 3/4’’ (2 cm) diameter
- A & C: 52’’ (1.3 m) of 3/8’’ (1 cm) wide double-folded bias tape
- Optional: 1 sew-on snap fastener to close the front wrap if too revealing
The Diana covers the size range of 36-46. The image includes measurements for other sizes, but sizes 48-52 relate to the PDF version, only available directly from the pattern company.
Level of Difficulty
