Maison Fauve - Primrose Dress
About the Primrose Dress
The Primrose dress has some beautiful details. It has a skater style skirt (panels with some flare), and has a stunning open-back version or a more classic closed back variation. The neckline is so elegant, with a perfect depth and width. The bodice front is gathered into the skirt, and the back bodice and skirt is cinched in with elastic. The signature feature of the Primrose is the pleated cuff that is sewn to give a twisted effect. You can choose whether you'd like the buttoned cuff finish, or the simplified buttonless version.
Cloth Edit also thinks the middle back bodice section could be replaced with a contrasting fabric, such as lace, or a contrasting print. So many options . . .
The Fabric
If you sew your dress in a fabric that requires a lining, use a cotton voile fabric. The length needed to line the skirt part + the front bust + the inner cuffs is 180 cm.
Select fabrics with a soft drape: a twill, a crepe or a viscose poplin, a fine jacquard, a soft and light woollen fabric for winter, or a beautiful lace, fabrics weighing 100 to 250g/m2 depending on the desired result.
