About the Prose Dress | Skirt

The PROSE dress is a little sewing gem: the bodice creates the illusion of a beautifully low-cut, button-front blouse and is also available in a sleeveless version for sunnier days. The pleated skirt features a carefully constructed combination of darts and pleats, with large slanted Italian pockets for added comfort, while the panelled design allows you to play with different lengths and fabrics. The pattern gives you the choice of making either the dress or the skirt. And to make the design easier to sew, you simply pull on the dress thanks to its elasticated back waistband. The elastic does not extend around to the front, ensuring the dress is as flattering as it is comfortable.

The key sewing techniques include the main techniques involved are assembling the polo-style placket, attaching bias binding, sewing a slanted pocket, setting in sleeves and sewing cuffs with a bound sleeve placket.

The Fabric

Select lightweight to medium-weight fabric (100–200 g/m) with softness and beautiful drape, such as poplin, crepe, lightweight jacquard, twill, dupion, viscose, cotton, linen, Tencel or silk.

The Notions

• 30cm of fuse interfacing
• 60 cm of contrasting fabric for the lower skirt
• 210 cm of piping if you would like to highlight the seam between the upper and lower skirt panels.
• 3 buttons approx 12mm diameter for the sleeveless dress or 5 for long sleeved version
• 2 cm wide elastic: 32 to 53 cm (see table on page 3).
  

Sizing

The pattern size range is 34 to 52 (European), which covers a bust measurement range from: 80 to 122 cm
